A special initiative to raise $7 million to preserve
and protect The Devon Horse Show and Country Fair for generations to come.
"We're half way there!"
We have over $3.5 million in hand.
We believe that the gifts to The Devon Horse Show and Country Fair are much more
than an investment in property and buildings or an act of support for the
national and international equestrian community. More importantly, each gift is
an investment in our community's future and the quality of life we are blessed
with here on the Philadelphia Main Line and beyond. Consider the following:
-
The Devon Horse Show and Country Fair stands apart as one of the nations oldest
and most prestigious outdoor horse shows. Started in 1896, Devon has grown from
a one-day event to a 10-day spectacle, drawing competitors and spectators from
around the world.
-
With attendance exceeding 100,000 each May, The Devon Horse Show and Country
Fair serves as a boon to the local economy, generating approximately $5 million
in revenue each ear for area hotels, restaurants and shops over the 10-day
period. The other shows held on the grounds generate another $5 million
annually.
-
Proceeds from the event, as they have since 1919, continue to benefit Bryn Mawr
Hospital and its historic mission "To heal the sick, comfort the suffering and
conserve the life of the community". Devon has contributed more than $10
million to the hospital over the years; it currently contributes a minimum of
$300,000 annually, making it one of the largest fund raising events in support
of the hospital.
-
The Devon Horse Show and Country Fair brings together 3,000 volunteers from all
walks of life who work year round in support of the show. Clearly, this is a
tangible sign of the pride area residents have in both the show and the
hospital, and a worthy outlet for those eager to "give back" to their
community.
Why invest in the Continuing the Tradition Campaign? Your generous gift - and
the gifts of a number of other key supporters - will ensure that The Devon
Horse Show and Country Fair, a valued and beloved Main Line tradition, will
flourish as a Devon mainstay for generations to come.
